Dr Treshi- Marie Perera

I am an experimental psychologist interested in the integration of sensory information to create our body representation and recognise our bodies as belonging to us. My recent research has therefore focused on how we can manipulate the sensory information our body receives through bodily illusions, and how these illusions can be used as tools to examine the perceptual mechanisms underlying the formation of our body representation and how we make sense of it. I have used a variety of different illusions, including the famous rubber hand illusion, and variations of it.

Additionally, I am also interested in the mechanisms underlying (mis)perceptions body shape and size and individual differences in this process.
